Valentine's

This is the Valentine's Day card I made this year. It folds up and then can unfold flat and also be folded into a heart shape with the hands coming together at the crown. It's 6 inches tall with the widths of the 2 different sizes coming in at 4 and 8 inches bringing it to a grand total of 48 inches in length. It's just plain old bristol board with inch wide pieces of bristol scored down the middle vertically to serve as hinges connecting each pieces and allowing the crisp folds.

It went over quite well. :)

Spidey versus The Hulk

Participated in a 1 - on - 1 drawing competition over at PencilJack this week. Had about 2 days to come up with a worthwhile Hulk and this is my entry.

Hope you like it.

Lady Ghost Rider

So, I spent a few hours tonight whipping up a little something for the Weekly Sketch Group over at PencilJack. Out of 4 possible topics, I chose to do a sketch of Lady Ghost Rider. Just the standard for me on this one, some light pencils, then inked over, this time with a brush pen, rather than my new usual full brush work.

Hope you like it.

The Black Diamond

First full sketch of the new year. A little known public domain character named Black Diamond.
Penciled then chisel-tip sharpie for ink.

Happy 2011 everybody.

Here's to a new year. May it be a prolific one.

Pre-1900's Daredevil Redesign

Some of my friends and former classmates at MCA have started a new blog called the Superhero Costume Coalition, or Superhero Cocoa for short.

They collectively choose a famous comics character and then they all redesign them and post their redesigns on the following Saturday.

Well, this is the inked version of my coming submission for this weeks, which was to be a Pre-1900'S Daredevil.

So, there's my Native American warrior version of Daredevil. Hope y'all like it.

UPDATE: Now with colors!

Sketch Dump

Just stopping by to drop some sketches in to keep things going. Covering sketches from some of the character's The Office, to drawings of my girlfriend and her dorm, to the inside of my mom's car, to a hospital lobby, and to some homework portraiture.

Enjoy.

...and the envelope please.

So while I didn't get best in show (the juror was a printmaker and selected this series of socially conscious prints for BiS) but I did win for foundations which is one of the larger categories. Also...while I didn't get the biggest award my art was the sole piece shown on the poster and was everywhere in the art department and led to me being called the "man of the hour" several times and I had a lot of hands to shake.

In short. It was a good night.

Student Art Show

So...we're having this big jurored student art show at school this week.

They're offering cash prizes and it was really selective. For about every 5 pieces entered only 1 was selected into the show and then from that group they've chosen winners by category.

So...I submitted my midterm from Color Theory that I did last semester. The project was to make a self-portrait out of a "found object" sort of mixed-media thing. So I...sadly...cut up an old Hawkman trade of mine that I loved dearly and turned it in. So my professor loved it and now uses pictures of it as his example for the newer classes and later told me it was his favorite. When the art show came around he threatened to find me and hurt me if I didn't submit it to the show.

So I submit it and it gets accepted and he swears up and down that I have a great chance to win one of the prizes. And now I find out that the posters went up yesterday all around the art department and close areas of campus..and they used a close up of my piece as the poster. Wicked...freaking...awesome.

Jump Hug.

Alrighty. Just wanted to pop in and throw up something quick and new.
This one's all digital. Wacom all the way through.

Had this memory stuck in my head all week, just like the person who helped create it.
Figured I'd make something out of it, while the iron was still hot.
:)

Thanks for checking in.
And yeah. Life is good. Really good.

Sgt. Powell 2: Powell Harder

Alright. So here we go, this is my second consecutive art post, so here's hoping we stay consistent, right?

I was planning on waiting till after I got up Wednesday to start a long day of drawing off and on so I can have more stuff to show, but I was floating around the drawing board and stumbled onto a recent art jam, and saw that it was cop related. After going through the pages and seeing the entries (some of these cats are damn good, by the way) I got an idea of who I wanted to draw and went-a-reference-hunting, found something I liked, and went to work.

So here's what I came up with:

And We're Back.

Well, it's been a looong time since I posted, sure, but it's also been a long time since I've really been able to sit and draw.
About 2 months, actually.

But nevertheless. I sat down the other day. Took 2 and a half hours.
And really put a Spidey drawing down.
So, here you go.

And For England!!

Alright, well Chrissy-poo, there it is. That's imasculating, isn't it?
Long fall from grace when you go from Yeoman the Great to Chrissy-poo.
Does Kym call you Chrissy-poo? I think she should. But then again I like laughing at stuff like that. I'm just a poor cynical bastard, though.
Oh well, there I go posting a 4 page preview, no words, of Gravedigger...for England apparently.
Yep. Th'whole damn country.

And once again..

That's right ladies and gentlemen, the Yeoman has spoken once again. I'm also a lazy bastard when it comes to this thing..but hell..I've been busy finishing High School and all that. :D
I graduate Saturday, May 20th.
I'm officially awesome.
Oh yeah..I can draw too. ;)
